Safe Place Program

Claremont Business Owner

From time to time, people of all ages find themselves in trouble while they are out and about in Claremont. If they have no way to contact help, more serious problems can occur. The Claremont Chamber of Commerce, the Claremont Police Department and the Claremont Unified School District have joined forces to promote a new program call SAFE PLACE.

Businesses who put the SAFE PLACE placard in their windows promise to allow the person in trouble to call either the police or someone else to help. We cannot succeed in this rpoject without your assistance. Please consider being a participant in SAFE PLACE by showing this placard prominently in your window.

By participating in Claremont's SAFE PLACE program, you and your staff agree to:

  • Allow any person or persons in need to use your business phone to call the Claremont Police Department:
  • EMERGENCY: 911 or NON-EMERGENCY: 399-5411
  • Or allow the person to call a family member or guardian
  • Allow the person to remain at your place of business until assistance arrives

Remember, you are simply agreeing to provide a safe place -- you should not feel obliged to give any other assistance.

If you have any questions or are interested in participating, feel free to call the Claremont Chamber of Commerce at 624-1681 or email us: contact(at)claremontchamber.org
