Ribbon Cuttings
Ribbon Cuttings are available anytime during your first six months of membership—and also for business “re-openings” after modernization or moving to another address—and are a great way to meet new Chamber members. Ribbon Cuttings provide a unique opportunity to “look under the hood” of local businesses and learn more about Claremont’s wide array of products and services. Chamber Ambassadors serve as hosts for these festive events, and all Chamber members are invited to network. There is no charge to attend.
The Chamber CEO, Board Chair, Chamber Board, City of Claremont Mayor, City Council Members, and other elected officials are often on hand to join the festivities. The Vice Mayor or another City Council Member will fill in if the Mayor is unable to attend. Please submit three Thursday date options to the office for your Ribbon Cutting.
Ribbon Cuttings are held on Thursdays at 5:00 PM, and you may include light refreshments. Home-based businesses are welcome to utilize the Chamber office to host a Ribbon Cutting. For information on scheduling, call 909-624-1681 or email admin@claremontchamber.org.
The Claremont Chamber of Commerce staff and Ambassadors will:
- Notify membership of the event through the weekly Chamber newsletter
- Add your event to the online calendar on the Chamber website
- Provide Chamber Ambassadors to assist you and your guests
- Notify the Chamber Board of Directors and City officials
- Provide giant scissors, red ribbon, and organize a great group photo
- Use the event photo in the weekly newsletter, social media, emails, and on the Chamber website
Please review the guidelines and contact the Claremont Chamber at (909) 624-1681 or admin@claremontchamber.org to schedule your event.
GUIDELINES
Set a Date – Give the Chamber at least one month’s notice. Attendance will vary by date; please be mindful of major holidays and community events (the Chamber can help).
Develop an Invitation List – Invite potential and current customers, suppliers, and employees. If the public is invited, send a press release to local media at least two weeks prior.
Advertise the Event – Post flyers in high-traffic locations and target the audience that will use your products/services.
Plan a Menu – If budget allows, offer light hors d’oeuvres, finger foods, and beverages.
Plan the Photo – Designate in advance where the ribbon-cutting photo will take place and who will be in it.
OPTIONAL IDEAS
- Host a brief 10-minute program (welcome remarks and a short description of your business)
- Offer a guided tour of your facility
- Provide gifts or promotional items with your logo (retailers may offer day-of discounts)
- Hold a door-prize drawing and collect visitors’ business cards
- Decorate your facility—tie your product or service into the ceremony
- Invite a local musical group to perform in exchange for press exposure
- Thank everyone who helped bring the project to life
